About the event
The Mocking Byrds will be playing on Friday 9th September. They are a recently formed, guitar based rock n roll band from Ayrshire and they are taking this year's festival season by storm!
Lead singer Jason Skimming makes his comeback after fronting popular Ayrshire band "Seaside Sons" for several years, where he released 2 studio albums and shared stages with artists such as Cast, Space, Dodgy and many more. Guitarist Gavin Mcmulkin started his musical journey in Redeye, back in the 90s and then became a gun for hire. Playing alongside members of The Supernaturals, GUN, SAHB and Rory Gallagher in various guises over the years, including touring with award winning songwriter Colin Clyne. He was also voted in the top 100 fender stratocaster players of all time in 2007.
John Lauchlan is the man behind the drums and he brings his explosive, hard hitting rock rhythms to the mix. His experience includes both Edinburgh and Glasgow live gig venues including playing at the Scottish Emergenza finals at the O2 Academy in front of a packed crowd. He has also had plenty of session work over the years playing for artists in the rock, funk and pop genres.
Glen McKay completes the line-up and takes care of the low end as the bass player. He has played in several bands over the years and has played many well-known venues along the way. Influenced by both old school and modern day guitar-based rock music.
Christie Oliver is a 20 year old singer songwriter from West Lothian, Scotland. With taking influences from artists such as Paolo Nutini, Amy Macdonald, Amy Winehouse, The Snuts and The View. Christie's music explores a fresh twist on the main stream indie/rock sound.
Christie has already received critical acclaim from radio shows such as BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1's Afternoon Show, Amazing Radio with Jim Gellatly and many more! Christie also had the privilege of jetting over to the South of France this summer to perform at 'Class Eu Rock' festival in-front of 10,000 people. This was held in the city of Provence and was a major stable in her career. With Christie's fifth single currently in the works, the only way is up for this young talent.
Christie can be found regularly gigging around Ayrshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and her hometown Linlithgow. With the live music scene excelling, Christie is set to rock out at many iconic festivals and venues over the coming year, with the likes of King Tuts, Party at the Palace, Eden Fest and much more!
Ocean Views are a young 3 piece psychadelic beaty power pop trio from Ayrshire.
Influenced by the greatest artists of British Psychedelia and Power Pop including
the Who, The Jam, Beatles, The Stone Roses, The La's, Cast and The Libertines
as well as their fellow countrymen The View.
They are fronted by two school friends Cammy Findlay on Bass guitar and David Bothwell
on lead guitar. The two sing their songs together backed by the mad energy of drummer
Jack Dillon who joined them just before the lockdown where they spend 2 years
rehearsing together and writing their first album. They are set to record their debut single with a release planned later in the year.
If you like tight quick pop songs with the energy of The Who, melody of the
Beatles and the instrumentals of the Stone Roses, then these boys are for you.
